Theatre 3 specializes in ensemble-created performances.The artists of Theatre 3 bring a passion for character, love for the physical, and spirit of exploration and discovery to all of their work.


Theatre 3 believes in embracing joy and the human experience to create original, imaginative works that serve and engage the community through collaboration and the expansion of the possibilities of performance.


2014-15: Received an Arizona Commission on the Arts Arts Learning Grant to bring a long-term residency in Commedia dell’Arte resulting in an original, student-created show to San Miguel High School. Taught a long-term residency in physical comedy and eccentric character at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, resulting in an original, student-created show which performed alongside T3’s touring show MixTape.

2013-14: Received a Tucson Pima Arts Council New Works Artist Project Grant to create an original adaptation of Johannes Kepler’s Somnium with Paul Amiel. Continued working with the Etcetera late-night program at Live Theatre Workshop to mentor young theatre makers in the creation and production of new work.

2012-13: Welcomed new collaborator and musical director, Paul Amiel. Focused on creating new work for the Etcetera late-night program at Live Theatre Workshop resulting in MixTape, Improviso!, and Theatrum Orbis Terrarum episodes 1-4. Taught a long-term residency in Commedia dell’Arte resulting in an original, student-created show at Catalina Foothills High School. Toured MixTape in the U.S. and Canada.

2012: Created a Commedia dell’Arte performance, Soy Formaggio, which played at the University of Arizona and The Rogue Theatre in honor of World Commedia Day.

2011: Founded Clown, R.N.–a clown therapy program serving local medical facilities–and focused on teaching workshops in physical theatre and ensemble creation, beginning to work with local Tucson theatre makers.

2010: Brought WONDERHEADS!, an evening of full-face mask, to the Etcetera stage at Live Theatre Workshop.

2009: Founded by Matt Walley & Angela Horchem with the creation of I Hate ♥ as part of the Dell’Arte International Thesis Festival. Created The Trial of D.D. Young and performed it for audiences in Illinois and Kansas.
